This global organisation is currently providing major shutdown management for coal mining and process plant in Central Queensland. Their Mackay office is focused on engineering, projects and maintenance in the coal industry. They also provide asset maintenance of mining and process plants and mobile maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Currently they have a requirement for a Cost Engineer for their maintenance and projects business based in Mackay. You will be required to travel to sites throughout the Bowen Basin for this role.

In this position you will be reporting to the finance and administration manager with the following responsibilites:

Providing analytical data for benchmarking and project comparison
Tracking cost trends and ensuring accurate cost reporting
Review and implementation of WBS (Work Breakdown Structures)
Managing sub-contract progress payments, variations and reporting

The successful applicant will need to have prior experience as a cost engineer in the mining or heavy industrial sectors. You should also have experience using MS Project and SAP exposure would be highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications in accounting, business or engineering would be a distinct advantage for this role.
