Our client is an international mining and natural resources company located in the heart of the Goldfields.  They are the largest producer of iron ore pellets in North America, a major supplier of direct-shipping lump and fines iron ore out of Australia and a significant producer of metallurgical coal. 
 
This role reports to the Senior Surveyor and will provide input and contribution toward operational targets by means of timely and accurate surveying functions. The Mine Surveyor will ensure the day to day mine surveying production requirements are completed in a safe and timely manner. Safe work practices must always be followed and the Mine Surveyor may be required to update work practices and procedures when required. 

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Ensure that all EOM surveys are carried out accurately and in a timely manner
  • Establishing and maintaining survey control networks
  • Provide technical assistance to the drill and blast team by designing and developing blast patterns according to the engineer's specifications and setting out of the drill pattern in a timely manner
  • Pit wall monitoring, to ensure the stability of the pit walls to carry out safe mining operations
  • Set out and pick up of mine design data
  • Surveys of waste dumps and pits to verify they fall within designed limits;
  • Blast volume calculation and reporting
  • Quarterly maintenance of photo control stations
  • Maintaining up to date survey plans and records of the site, as directed
  • Follow work practices and procedures to the highest professional and safety standards to achieve optimum performance of mine production functions

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Degree, Diploma or certificate in Surveying
  • Level II Mine Surveying Authorisation advantageous
  • Software experience in Surpac, MapInfo, Leica geodetic Office and Microsoft office suite
  • Survey equipment experience with the latest Leica GPS, Lecia TPS and Garmin handheld
  • C class drivers licence
  • Supportive and a team player
  • Efficient in performing tasks independently
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Reliable and self motivated
  • Good communications skills
  • Professional attitude towards work and his/her colleagues
  • Positive approach towards self development
